A BILL

To provide resources for comprehensive sexual education in K-12 public schools, and for other purposes.

 

1 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of

2 America in Congress assembled,

3 SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

4 This Act may be cited as the “Safe Sex Education Act”.

5 SEC. 2. PURPOSE.

6 (A) The purpose of this act is to encourage a universal standard of education

7 regarding STI prevention, HIV/AIDS prevention, pregnancy, abortion care, consent,

8 sexual orientation, family and marriage, and adolescent development.

9 (B) The K-12 public school system lacks an appropriate universal standard of

10 health care education.

11 (C) Underfunding comprehensive sexual education results in a heightened risk

12 of censorship or elimination of elements of sexual health at the discretion of local

13 school districts and administrators.

14 (D) Standardizing sexual education allows collaboration between state boards

15 of education and qualified medical professionals.

16 (E) Developing universal criteria for comprehensive sexual education ensures

17 that information regarding communities particularly impacted by sexual health

18 misinformation, such as the LGBTQ+ community, receives objective treatment in all

19 public education settings.

20 SEC. 3. RESOURCES TO IMPROVE STANDARDS OF EDUCATION

21 This Act provides:

22 I. The provision of abortion (including miscarriage) information and resources

23 II. The provision of HIV/AIDS information and testing resources

24 III. The provision of education on human sexuality

25 IV. The provision of education on adolescent biological development

26 V. The provision of contraceptive information and resources

27 VI. The provision of sensitivity training toward individuals affected by (I-V),

28 including, but not limited to, members of the LGBTQ+ community
